Parents As Teachers (910-738-6767)
Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a nationally affiliated, respected family education and support program that believes that the parent is the child’s first and most important teacher and that all children are born to learn. This is a voluntary and free service open to all children between the ages of birth to 5 residing in Robeson County. Services are provided to both English and Spanish speaking families. The PAT program is funded by Smart Start. Smart Start funds are administered at the local level through local nonprofit organizations such as the Robeson County Partnership for Children.
PAT consists of four main components:
Postpartum Newborn Home Visitation (910-671-3200)
The Postpartum/Newborn Home Visitation program delivers health assessments, social support and educational services directly to the mom and baby in their home. A registered nurse will visit the home and follow up on the mother’s and infant’s health status and well-being. This program is available to all Medicaid-receiving postpartum mothers and their newborns. This service is provided at no cost to all Robeson County residents. Appointments are necessary.
